Many clients have come to see me who have had dysfunctional childhoods in some way. These have included those who have been sent away in childhood and spent their formative years in a boarding or residential school, as well as also those whose family life has been anything but stable. Both children from either side of the coin essentially grow up with no idea as to what a healthy relationship is.
